PRESENTATION SUMMARY 

Ed Kaminski from the Clark County Fire Prevention Bureau will be giving a presentation of the evolution of methods used to protect commercial cooking equipment, recent changes to the testing standards, current methods for fire suppression and frequently asked questions on commercial cooking equipment protection.  

BIO  

Ed Kaminski joined Clark County Fire Prevention Bureau as a Fire Protection Engineer in March of 2008.  He is from Chicago and has a BS in Fire Protection in Safety Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and a Masters of Engineering Management from Northwestern University. Ed holds professional engineering licenses in Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Nevada and Utah.

He has a broad background in fire protection engineering being a consultant to the hospitality and gaming industry for over 15 years and working in heavy industrial settings including the nuclear and chemical process industries for about six years. He was in the fire suppression equipment testing group at Underwriters Laboratories for six years and worked at IIT Research Institute’s Fire and Explosion Research Department during undergraduate school.  Ed was the Chairman of the Technical Committee in Wet and Dry Chemical Extinguishing System, NFPA 17 / 17A for ten years and continues to be a principal member of the committee.
